Review by Ronny

My Favourite Kidnapper is a funny, quirky, banana pants rom-com that was a hoot to read.

Favourite Quote:

He kept me close, and for the first time in my life, I felt as if I was exactly where I belonged.

With him.

Book Synopsis:

I touched her confectionary creation, and she told me off.
Slapping my hands and cursing in her own unique fashion.
No one talked to me that way.
I liked it.
I liked her cake even more.
So, I took her to Italy to bake for me.
I should have asked her first, but I had a feeling she’d say no.
I brought her cat, though—that should count for something.
Now, I just need to convince her to stay.
And forget that little word.
𝙆𝙞𝙙𝙣𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙧.
I’d prefer lover.
But we’ll wait until she doesn’t want to kill me in my sleep.

Review:

With a title like My Favourite Kidnapper, I knew I was in for a fun, bonkers ride, and the author did not disappoint. Everything about this book was just pure fun and craziness. It’s an easy, breezy read and requires nothing from you. All you have to do is sit back and enjoy the ride. Now, one thing that did surprise me was Dante’s character. I was expecting a broodier, quiet, alpha character, and Dante isn’t like that at all. Yes, he does have those arrogant alpha male qualities, but he has this lightness and, shall I say, playfulness to his character that I wasn’t expecting. I loved that his character was different from what I expected because it created a different reading experience than I anticipated. I loved, and I mean loved, that playful, on-your-toes banter between Brianna and Dante. It was so delicious and addictive. They both come into each other’s lives like a wrecking ball, and neither anticipates how drawn they will be to each other.

Dante is instantly drawn to Brianna, not just because of her delicious cakes but also because she isn’t afraid to speak her mind to him. It’s a quality that draws Dante in like a cat with catnip. Brianna doesn’t have time for Dante’s bossy attitude or antics. She has life plans, and it certainly doesn’t involve baking cakes for the gorgeous and infuriating man who has kidnapped her. There were a few unexpected plot twists, and Dante’s secret job was a bit surprising. Overall, the plot unfolded at a great pace that kept me entertained. Both characters are fun and likable. I love watching them interact with each other. For those who may want to read a kidnapping romance but aren’t too keen on reading a dark romance, then this might be a great book for you to read. The kidnapping elements are light and fun. There are no dark romance elements in this book.

The romance is sweet, flirty, and oh-so-delicious. Yes, things are spicy, but not overly spicy. The author found a great middle-ground in terms of the spice level. I enjoyed the way the romance between Dante and Brianna unfolded. Yes, there is this insta lust/love feel to their relationship, but that is what the situation in this particular story created, and I thought the author did a great job with that trope. There are, of course, bumps in their relationship, something that should be expected when one of the love interests has been kidnapped. But the bumps make sense, and the third act break up needed to happen for both characters to make that leap into having a real relationship with one another.

My Favorite Kidnapper is a quick and bonkers romance that will make you laugh.
