Review by Ronny

Series Name: NOLA Knights, # 3

The last book in the NOLA Knights series does not disappoint.

Favourite Quote:

“Him? Harmless?” Bonnie shot them both a disbelieving look. “That’s like calling a pit bull a lap dog.”

He shouldn’t have reacted to the retort. Should have kept his wicked chuckle and icy grin at bay, but the unguarded and snappy observation was too keen not to be appreciated.

Not to mention, deadly accurate.

Book Synopsis:

She’s in way over her head.

Bonnie Drummond is from the wrong side of the tracks, raised in a family of liars and criminals. No matter how hard she tries to stay on the straight and narrow, she always finds herself sucked back into the family drama, forced to sacrifice everything she’s earned to protect her family.

But this time they’ve gone too far—crossed the wrong people—and to save them she’ll have to put her life on the line.

Roman Kozlov, enforcer for a New Orleans mafiya family, is the poster child for the life Bonnie is struggling to escape. But he’s also as alluring as he is dangerous, and it doesn’t take long for their lives to begin to mesh.

With Roman, Bonnie finds the family she never had.

As their race for answers heats up, so too does the budding romance between them. And with danger nipping at her heels and love threatening her heart, Bonnie must come face-to-face with her past if she wants to have a future.

Review:

I was excited to read Roman’s book because I do like the quiet, broody, enforcer hero that bottles up his emotions. I knew that he was going to be the one who was going to feel the strongest and fall the hardest. Overall, I enjoyed the story; the mystery was interesting and different from the previous two books. I enjoyed the fact that it was a brand-new mystery element, because it stopped the story from feeling super repetitive. I liked Roman’s story. I knew once we got a chance to see those gruff walls start to crumble, you were going to see a hero who would melt your heart. My heart was just a flutter as I watched Roman try to court Bonnie, the man is so sweet and romantic, with just the right amount of lusty, feral feelings.

As I have mentioned in other reviews for books in this series, this is a very light mafia series. There is little to no violence on the pages, the male main characters have no real red flags, and the story is very light. This whole series reads like a category romance. Things move fast, details are on the light side, and the plot is fairly bonkers. Bonnie is probably my least favourite female lead in this series, because she felt slightly immature. Her dialogue just felt off and almost teenage-like, which I found weird because the other female leads were nothing like that. But setting that aside, I enjoyed Bonnie and Roman’s chemistry and loved watching as Roman worked to sweep Bonnie off her feet while trying to keep her safe from this unknown danger.

Mine to Keep was a fun and romantic conclusion to the NOLA Knights series.
