Review by Ronny

I am in love with how wildly unhinged this book was!
Favourite Quote:
I don’t just want to protect the baby at this moment. I want to protect her. I want to comfort her. I want to hold her. I want to burn the world to the ground for making her hurt like this.
Book Synopsis:
I wanted to pummel my irritating brothers when they posted their own version of a wanted ad to help me with my life.
But I can’t fault the results once the right woman lands in my lap.
Becoming a single father is not a decision I made lightly. In fact, it’s the biggest decision of my entire life.
Which is why when I interview Trista, I know she’s perfect.
She’s wild, she’s opinionated, she wears cowboy boots. Even my pet goat loves her…
She’s the exact type of person I was holding out for.
And to my great horror, I realize on our first night of attempting this baby-making dance—when the lights are low, the cheap wine is flowing and the home-insemination supplies are laid out on the kitchen counter—I want to do a lot more than just make her my surrogate.
I want to make her mine.
Review:
Be warned, you have to love romances that are full-on banana pants crazy in order for you to enjoy this book. The plot is bonkers, and I mean super bonkers. But if you are like me and like a little crazy in your life, then get ready for a fun and wild ride. This is my first Amy Daws book, and many have compared her writing to Tessa Bailey and Meghan Quinn. After reading this book, I have to agree. I really enjoyed this story; it truly was a lot of fun to read. The plot of this book instantly intrigued me. We have Wyatt, our hero, who is trying to become a father. He has tried to adopt with no luck, and his search for a surrogate has not been any better. That is until his delightfully quirky niece gets involved and finds him the perfect surrogate, aka our heroine Trista. The two strike up a deal that Trista will carry Wyatt’s baby in exchange for some money. Trista is also allowed to live in the apartment in Wyatt’s barn with her potbelly pig, Reggie. The two agree that things will remain professional between them, but any good romance bookworm knows that that rule will fly out the barn door quickly.
The bonker-ness starts right from the first page. We meet Wyatt and his crazy brothers, who all live on this mountain. The brothers have this fun, quirky, playful banter and are constantly giving each other a hard time. I found myself smiling and laughing whenever they were together. You really have to set aside that logical and realistic part of your brain when you read this book because the majority of the things that happen would never happen in real life. This is just one of those books that you just have to go with the flow and enjoy the ride. Don’t think too much about what you are reading. I loved all the adorable and quirky animals that make an appearance in this book and thought they were a fun and cute way to add some low-key conflict between the two MCs. I have to note that even though this book is fun and light, Amy does address a few serious issues. Things like the difficulty of becoming a parent through non-traditional routes, especially if you are a single man and also toxic family issues and how they can leave some emotional scars. I thought she thoughtfully incorporated these issues.
I adored all the characters in this book. They are just so fun and fabulous, and I had such a blast getting to hang out with them. Trista is this big ball of fun and chaotic energy. She lives a busy life. Trista has never had anything handed to her and is working incredibly hard to make her goal of owning her own animal sanctuary a reality. Trista’s tough childhood has made her incredibly independent, and she is often uncomfortable when anyone tries to help her, which often puts her at odds with Wyatt, who loves to help others out. I enjoyed her character and her journey in this book is learning to be open to the possibility of being a part of a family who would love and take care of her. Wyatt is this swoony mixture of this caring, sweet guy who can turn into a possessive, dirty talker in the blink of an eye. I found myself really enjoying those two dualling personalities. He is a big old softy and would do anything for his family. He cares about the environment, and he is truly a good guy. Then you get to see this other side, which is possessive and protective and alpha male in nature. Once Trista gets pregnant, that protective nature starts to come out, and it only amps up when they start sleeping with each other. There is just something about a man who would do anything to make sure the woman he loves is safe and happy.
The romance in this book is spicy and has that Insta-lust vibe. Trista and Wyatt come together to help each other out. They both agree that things should remain professional between them, but they are having a hard time ignoring those lusty feelings they have for one another. They strike up a bit of a friendship, but that quickly turns into a friendship with benefits. There is this imposing deadline to their relationship because once Trista has the baby, she is supposed to move on with her life. For personal reasons, Trista doesn’t believe that she wants to be a mother, which means that any future with Wyatt would be impossible because he is going to be a dad. I was curious to see how Amy was going to solve this dilemma that she put her two MCs in. I thought she did a good job at dealing with the conflict, and yes, it was solved fairly easily, which is unrealistic considering the magnitude of the situation, but who cares?
Nine Month Contract is fun, flirty, and fabulous and perfect for any bookworm looking to read something that is super crazy.
