What’s the strangest thing you searched for on the internet for your novel?
I distinctly remember looking up how to describe the noise a rabbit makes because I’ve never had a rabbit, nor heard anyone describe the noises rabbits make. More recently for another book I’m working on, I did the same for how to describe the noise a horse rider makes when kicking into the horse to make them go. As you can tell, my animal knowledge is clearly lacking (I’m allergic to most animals so I haven’t learned things firsthand).
What book (or author) made you fall in love with the romance genre?
If we’re talking about the FIRST book I read with any sort of romance (even as a subplot) that had an effect on me and made me fall in love with the romance genre…it’s the Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine. Child Victoria who loved love and Disney movies thought it was MAGICAL that books could have fantasy AND a love story.
Later on?? It was so many. I DEVOURED YA while I was a teen and there was so much romance and tension there…and then I read all of the Jane Austen books…my love of romance was not spawned by one book, it has been a lifelong love affair.
What is your favourite trope? Why?
It depends on my mood, and my fave tropes fluctuate, but I’m loving a good, non-toxic second chance romance right now!
It’s the morning after, and a lover is making your main character the perfect breakfast in bed. What is it?
My mum’s specific Belgian waffle recipe with fresh, August, Niagara region peaches. Freshly squeezed orange juice. An iced vanilla matcha. A perfectly steeped tetley orange pekoe tea with a bit of milk (I love three drinks as my options). Anddddd, probably a croissant from the single bakery in town where I live that makes sourdough croissants (I’m gluten free, but I can eat sourdough!)
