Series Name: Chestnut Springs, # 2

She’s fucking stunning.
And her cheeks are fire-engine red.
“I’m so sorry,” she gasps, hand falling across her rosebud lips.
“No need. It’s fine.” I say, but I still feel like everything is happening in slow motion. I’m having a hard time catching up, still too fixated on her face.
And fuck.
Her tits.
I’m officially a creepy old man. My eyes trail down to my fist, the soft fabric poking out from between my fingers.
She groans as my fingers unfurl. And slowly but surely, I figure out why she’s acting so horrified over me being a gentleman and picking up her…
Panties.

Heartless is another steamy and swoony romance romp from Elise Silver.

Working as a nanny for the world’s grumpiest single dad should have been simple. Except I can’t keep my eyes off him. And he can’t keep his hands off of me.
Cade Eaton is thirteen years older than I am and barely looks my way. Until I get him into the hot tub one night for a game of truth or dare. Then all bets are off—and so are our clothes.
He’s gruff, a little rough around the edges. But broad-shouldered ranchers with calloused hands and filthy mouths are this city girl’s kryptonite. So who am I to resist?
But it’s in our quiet moments together that he softens. It’s when he takes care of me that I realize his hardened exterior is just a façade. It’s when I watch him go all sweet with his little boy that I really fall for him.
Someone convinced him once that his best wasn’t good enough. But I’ve never felt more cherished than I do in his arms.
My contract may say this arrangement is only for two months.
But my heart says this is forever.

Well, Elsie Silver has done it again. She has written another addictive and spicy romp that I could not put down. Heartless is the second book in the Chestnut Springs series. This book can be read as a stand-alone, but I highly recommend reading Flawless, the previous book in the series, because it’s such a great read. You will fall fast and hard for all the gorgeous cowboys in Elsie’s books. This book takes place shortly after the events of the previous book and is centred around Willa (Summer’s best friend), who is coming to Chestnut Springs to be the nanny for Cade’s (the eldest brother in the Eaton family) son. We met Willa and Cade in the previous book, and I instantly fell in love with both of their characters. This book is an easy and fast read. The plot moves along at a pretty consistent and fast pace, but what makes this book so addictive is the banter and chemistry between Cade and Willa. I yearned for any interactions between these two, and I needed to keep reading because I wanted to see what would happen next.

Fans of single dad, falls for the nanny, age gap, and grumpy sunshine tropes will fall head over cowboy boots in love with Willa and Cade’s relationship. Willa is one of a kind. She has no flitter, is quirky, and is just one big ray of sunshine. I love a quirky heroine because I know they will have me laughing at their highly entertaining antics. The things that come out of Willa’s mouth are hilarious and very dirty at times. She keeps Cade on his toes and destroys his carefully constructed world. I loved every scene where Cade is often left standing, wondering what the hell just happened. It’s pure catnip for my soul. Watching her interact with Luke (Cade’s son) was also a joy. Willa’s playful and joyful personality was the perfect fit for this adorable little boy. It melts your heart in the best possible way.

Cade is grumpy, broody, and tall, dark and handsome. In the previous book, Cade is a cold and distant man. He has a lot of responsibilities. He is a single dad and has taken over running the family farm. He also feels that because he is the oldest sibling, he has to take charge and fix any problems that may arise. His heart has also been wounded because his ex left him and his son because she could no longer stand living out in the countryside. This has made him believe that no woman would ever want to stay and live in the countryside with him, especially not a woman like Willa. Cade is a man of few words, and he doesn’t talk a whole heck of a lot in the first half of the book. But holy hell, this man is the king at dirty talk. It surprised the hell out of me. When things start to heat up between Willa and Cade, it’s like a switch was flicked, and Cade becomes this guy who says the filthiest and dirtiest things. So, if you are a fan of dirty talk, you are going to love Cade.

I adored the relationship between Cade and Willa. I am a sucker for a good grumpy sunshine romance, so the chemistry and banter between these two were right up my alley. There are lots and lots of steamy cowboy moments in this book. So prepare yourself. There are a few hurdles that these two have overcome, mainly around Cade and his reluctance to start a relationship with Willa. He thinks she is too young for him, and she is also his son’s nanny. Luckily, Willa is pretty persistent and doesn’t think either of those things is an issue. Cade also has to heal and move on from the damage his ex inflicted on his heart and pride. Until he can let go of that hurt, he can’t have a relationship with Willa. If you are new to Elsie’s books, they are on the spicier side of the romance scale. But this book isn’t just spice; there is a story, and it has depth.

Heartless will have your heart racing in the best possible way.
