Series Name: The Cocky Kingmans, # 1

I bounced on my feet and took off at a dead run. In a Super Bowl worthy move, I jumped onto the hood of the car, extending my reach out as far as I could, and grabbed Luck Skycocker by the long and danglies of his tail, pulling him down and tucking him under my arm like a football.

Then I pushed off the hood, snagged Trixie around the waist, and tucked and rolled off the side of the car, my hip jarring against the polished metal as Mrs. Bo swerved again. I took the brunt of the fall, protecting the rooster and Trix from the hard ground.

We skidded across the grassy curb between the street and the sidewalk in front of my house. Mrs. Bo skidded to a halt. The three of us laid there for a minute, my chest heaving, sucking in deep breaths, pushing the air and adrenaline back out of my system.

Trixie’s breath was rapid and ragged too. She lifted her head from my chest where she’d landed and pushed her glasses back up her face. “Why, Mr. Kingman. Is that a rooster in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?”

The C*ck Down the Block is a funny and spicy romance and a great start to a new series.

Always the nerdy girl, never the girlfriend~

Until her cocky best friend and his *ahem* rooster take charge.

Look, I’ve had it bad for the girl with all the curves next door forever. She turned me down in high school and since I’m not a total douchecanoe, I lusted after her all by myself in my shower, and we stayed just friends for years.

Now she’s the adorkable librarian next door and I’m the star quarterback of the best pro football team in the league.
So when she asks me to be her fake date to her all-girls school reunion I am totally down to show her off to the mean girls who bullied her back then so they can see just how incredible she is.
I’ll be the best boyfriend they’ve ever seen. The best fake boyfriend that is.

Until I find out from her slightly-stalkery classmates that she still has her v-card. I don’t see how that is even possible. Not with how sexy and sweet she is. Could it be because she knows she belongs with me?

This curvy girl and football quarterback sports romance has a baddie plus-size woman who knows her own worth and a Bridgertons-meets-American-Football family you’ll wish you were a part of.

I love a romance that has me laughing, and this book did that in spades. There are plenty of things to love about this story. First, it is such an easy and fun book to read. It requires nothing from you. You don’t have to overthink about what you are reading. It’s not emotionally draining. You can just sit down and read this book and enjoy it. I love all the puns that are woven throughout this book. They are pretty punny (sorry, I couldn’t help myself). The witty banter and all the hilarious antics that happen within this story were perfection. It just sucked me in, and before I knew it, I was almost done with the book. At its core, this story is fun. There really aren’t any major obstacles that the couple has to overcome. There is no third-act break-up because these two talk through any issues that come up. As a reader, I get to watch these two lovebirds fake date until that fake dating turns into a real relationship. I just enjoyed the ride.

I adored Chris’s family. They are a hoot and have such big personalities. Spending time with them is like being in the middle of a hurricane. Everyone talks at once, things are flying around, and egos clash (in a good way). There are seven siblings in this family, which means we will be getting seven books in this series, which means I am really happy.

I love a rom-com with a quirky, curvy heroine; the added bonus is that she is a big bookworm. Trixie was fabulous! She is funny, sweet, and knows her own self-worth. She is just a character that you love spending time with. She is a bit oblivious about how attracted Chris is to her. I think the reason for this is that she believes Chris is out of her league. Also, she doesn’t want to jeopardize their friendship. I loved the fact that her character (and Chris’s) doesn’t change. Her character doesn’t need any growth; she is wonderful the way she is, and that doesn’t need to change. The only thing that really needed to happen was that these two characters needed to bang and start dating each other.

The romance is pretty spicy. Chris falls first and harder. This man has it really bad for Trixie. And has loved her since high school. He asked her out when they were teenagers, but she turned him down. There is a reason for this, which is explained in the second half of this book. Chris decided it was better to be her friend than nothing, so he never asked her out again. At the beginning of this book, Chris decides to work up the courage to ask her out one last time, but before he can do that, Trixie asks him to be her fake date for her high school reunion. He says yes, hoping he can get her to fall in love with him as they are fake dating. I’m not always a fan of a faking dating trope, but I didn’t hate it in this book. I think it’s because there were just so many fun antics, and the banter was so great that it made me forget that these two were fake dating instead of real dating. Trixie is a virgin because she has had a hard time being close to any guy. The reason for this is because her mom is a porn star, and men have always expected her to also kind of act as a porn star. It made her weary of men. That is until Chris enters the picture and treats her like the queen she is, and makes her feel comfortable with sex. There are some pretty spicy scenes with sex toys and sex scenes out in public. There are lots of great tropes in this book: there are friends to lovers, he falls first, cinnamon roll hero, fake dating, dating a superstar, and spice coaching.

The C*ck Down the Block is a swoonastic, hilarious rom-com that is so much fun to read.
