Series Name: Sunshine Island, # 3
‘Would you like to dance, Phoebe?’
She looked surprised for some reason, maybe because he didn’t seem like the type to dance, whatever that was, Jax wondered. Or maybe she’d seen him dancing with Beth at the wedding reception and was trying to think of a way to let him down gently.
‘I’d like that,’ she said, surprising him.
Chasing Dreams on Sunshine Island is a nice, easy breezy charming romance.
Welcome to Sunshine Island – where the beaches are golden, the lifestyle perfect and anything is possible…
Jax Hudson doesn’t mind the cold. He’s still wearing shorts and walking barefoot on the beach. He’s looking forward to spending the season with his girlfriend until she unexpectedly calls time on their relationship.
Alone and feeling very sorry for himself, Jax accepts an invitation to a Christmas Eve party and bumps into Phoebe Bishop who is still mortified about kissing him in the previous summer.
As the first snow flurries delight the party guests, the festive joy soon turns to disaster when a snowstorm knocks out the island’s power. Panic ensues as people realise their holiday plans may have to be cancelled.
Phoebe is reluctantly enlisted by Jax to help transport the partygoers to the comforts of their own homes. As Jax and Phoebe spend time together they realise they have more in common than either had imagined…
Could this be a holiday season full of magic, mistletoe and happy-ever-afters?
To say I was excited about Jax’s story is a bit of an understatement. I fell in love with Jax’s character right from the first time he appeared in Finding Love on Sunshine Island (the first book in this series). There was just something about his character that drew me to him. Jax comes off as this carefree and always happy guy, but I felt there was much more to his character. This was an enjoyable and fast read. It felt like it had focus and was more cohesive than the previous book. This story is set around Christmas time, but it doesn’t have a lot of holiday vibes, which I really liked. It was a lot of fun hanging out with Jax and Phoebe.
Both Jax and Phoebe have been secondary characters in the previous two books. Phoebe has had a crush on Jax right from the first book, but he hasn’t shown any interest in her until this book. Jax’s story was everything I could have hoped for. I was right; his character had a lot of depth, and I loved slowly peeling back those layers to see what lurked underneath that charming exterior. I love Phoebe’s character, which surprised me a bit. There is much more to her than I expected, and I enjoy watching her interact with Jax. She was delightful, and her character complemented Jax’s character so well. The romance in this story is sweet and charming, something I have come to expect with Georgina’s books. These two are thrown together when a snowstorm hits the island, and it is great watching their chemistry grow as they spend more time together.
Chasing Dreams on Sunshine Island is a light and fun pick-me-up read and a great next installment in the Sunshine Island series.
