Series Name: Mermaids Point, #2.5
‘You shaved off your beard!’
Grinning, Alex raised a hand to rub his chin. ‘It was driving me mad, if I’m honest with you.’ His eyes took on a wicked gleam. ‘Besides, the clean-shaven look is much kinder on a lady’s skin when I kiss her under the mistletoe.’
Don’t blush, don’t blush. It was hard not to, though when he was looking at her like he wanted to eat her up.Â
Christmas is a time for love, laughter, families and friends, and in Mermaids Point, everyone is getting ready for the festive season.
For Nerissa and Tom, this will be their first Christmas as a couple, but making sure they have time for each other, whilst blending their families, will take some careful planning. What festive traditions will they make their own?
Laurie and Jake are flat out running Laurie’s seafront café, packaging up orders of mince pies, sausage rolls and other delectable Christmas goodies, as well as finding time for Jake’s journalism. But when Jake’s mum offers them an unexpected gift, their plans are turned upside down.
Alex can’t help but be charmed by beautiful and talented Ivy, but he’s still recovering from his ex-wife’s betrayal and has a secret life he’s not ready to share with anyone yet. But as the Christmas spirit starts weaving its magic, Alex may find himself ready for love sooner than he imagines.
For Andrew, nothing is more important than family. As friends and family gather beneath his roof it’s a time for reflection about what the future might hold.
As far as Nick is concerned, pop sensation Aurora Storm is the ‘one that got away’. After they shared a brief holiday fling, he has been thinking about her ever since. Is Christmas the perfect time to finally reach out to her, or is love at first sight just in fairy-tales?
Christmas Surprises at Mermaids Point is a short holiday novella from the Mermaids Point series. I was super excited to read this book because I wanted to see what happened to Tom and Nerissa, who had gotten together at the end of the previous book. Thankfully I only had to wait a couple of weeks to see what happened to them. I loved this book, it was light and fluffy everything that I would expect from a short holiday read.Â
This book is structured differently from what I thought it would be; every chapter is from a different character’s POV. I both loved and hated how this book was set up. I enjoyed reading the story from other characters’ POVs. It was a lot of fun to see how each character was spending the holiday. But a part of me had wanted to spend more time with each character. All the characters in this series are charming, fabulous and I just felt I didn’t get to spend enough time with them. LOL I just love this series so much, I wished this book would have been a full novel. I can’t get enough of these characters.Â
This novella is a segue to where Sarah is going to be taking the series. The first four chapters focus on Jake and Laurie and Tom and Nerissa’s stories. We get to see how the couples are doing, and I am happy to report they are living that “happily ever after” life. These chapters are super cute and cheesy (very Hallmarkish). The rest of the chapters are focused on setting the stage for what will happen in the next two books. We got to read from Andrew, Alex, Ivy, Nick and Aurora’s POV. I am really looking forward to the next book that will follow the story of Alex (Tom’s brother) and Ivy (Laurie’s friend). I felt this instant connection with Ivy’s character and I can’t wait to read her story.Â
Christmas Surprises at Mermaids Point is a delightful holiday for readers who are fans of the Mermaid Point series.
