What’s the strangest thing you searched for on the internet for your novel?

The cost of designer cat sweaters.

What book (or author) made you fall in love with the romance genre?

My mother-in-law gave me Nora Roberts’ Daring to Dream to read the week I came home from the hospital with my first daughter. I had really bad postpartum depression, and that story allowed me a few hours to escape into the life of someone else who was guaranteed a happy ending. It was then that I really understood the power of romance books. They give hope during the times when hope isn’t easy to come by. Margo and Josh’s story is still a favorite of mine that I read again in 2020 when I needed it.

What is your favourite trope? Why?

Childhood friends-to-lovers, especially when there is an Emma/Knightley dynamic. I love it when characters have a history with each other, and how satisfying it can be to see how all their backstory plays into their love story, and I really love it when it comes with a rivals-to-lovers type of banter because they know each other so well they won’t let the other get away with any kind of nonsense.

It’s the morning after, and a lover is making your main character the perfect breakfast in bed. What is it?

Brinkley loves diner style food, so she’d get bacon, eggs, hashbrowns topped with cheese and onions, and Texas toast.

What book are you reading currently?

I’m currently reading the Ice Planet Barbarian series with a couple of friends and we’re having the most fun! I love buddy reading something I wouldn’t normally think to pick up on my own.

The rapid fire question: If a best friend’s partner cheats on her would you: show up with ice cream and wine or get revenge on her behalf and send pictures.

I’d show up with wine, but I’d absolutely be wishing I had it in me to get revenge!
