1. What’s the strangest thing you searched for on the internet for your novel?
I searched for how much a nose might bleed or swell if it’s broken by an errant chest pass in basketball, and I looked up the odds of one getting brown vomit out of a yellow dress. So basically, I just searched disgusting things regarding bodily fluids.
2. What book (or author) made you fall in love with the romance genre?
Slow Heat In Heaven by Sandra Brown. I picked it up at a used bookstore when my kids were small – it was tattered and well-read – and I was instantly lost to it. I started devouring all of Brown’s romance novels before moving on to Nora Roberts, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Lisa Kleypas, Julia Quinn – I could go on all day, because I’ve never stopped reading them.
3. What is your favourite trope? Why?
I love fake-dating and enemies-to-lovers; don’t make me choose, I love them equally. There’s nothing quite like watching as the two main characters slowly learn all the amazing little things they’d missed about the other previously. Well, other than watching them fight the heat of their new feelings and slow-building chemistry.
4. It’s the morning after, and a lover is making your main character the perfect breakfast in bed. What is it?
Liz is a hopeless romantic, obsessed with rom-coms and happily-ever-afters. So Liz would like EVERYTHING for breakfast. She would absolutely be swept off her feet if her lover pulled an Edward from Pretty Woman and took the liberty of “ordering everything on the menu.”
5. What book are you reading currently?
The Duke Undone by Joanna Lowell
The Rapid Fire Question: Taylor Swift or Adele
I love Adele, but it’s Taylor Swift for me. No one writes lyrics like T-Swift.
